TherapiesThe ability to use various therapies allows the therapist to tailor make a treatment for each client, depending on the problem to be resolved. The use of some of these therapies has allowed the medication taken by some of the recipients to be reduced, and in some cases discontinued. They also allow the recipient to take ‘time out’ from their problems by inducing deep relaxation and leave them feeling better able to cope. ![]() ![]()

Riding for the Disabled, phoenix aid initiated and implemented the first ever disabled riding scheme in
Bosnia with help from the UK Riding for the Disabled Association. This scheme is now hosted by the Land of
Peace and Friendship charity at Kakrinje just outside Sarajevo. The scheme gives disabled children and adults
the opportunity to interact with horses and develop their balance, coordination, communication abilities and
confidence and has provided invaluable life enhancing experiences for many of these riders. ![]()
Equine Facilitated Learning, phoenix aid, again in partnership with Land of Peace, are working to provide
training in this new horse based therapy to expand the use of horses in providing beneficial therapy for
disturbed people, particularly children. This equine based psychotherapy is an innovative way to explore the
clients life problems and find new ways of dealing with them, and is particularly useful for PTSD, ADHD, Autism,
Aspergers Syndrome as well as substance abuse, relationship problems including children who have been abused,
anger management problems, and many other problems commonly suffered by those who have been involved in conflict
